We found that some stores were refusing to put the shipper out initially due to its size. Also as the shipper was quite large (it took 21 bottles to fill), many stores didn’t have enough in backstock to fill it again (as only had 1 facing in the alcohol aisle). Therefore, some stores were not keeping half full shippers on the shopfloor. Recommendations for the next promotion is for more stock to be sent in to stores ahead of any promotional offers.

Our response

  • In response to El Rayo’s brief, we executed a thorough and proactive approach across all designated stores.
  • During our store visits, our team carefully inspected each location to determine whether the pre-filled El Rayo shipper was correctly positioned on the shop floor. In instances where the shipper was not present, we engaged directly with store management to ensure it was promptly sited in a suitable, high-visibility location to enhance sales potential and product availability.
  • Where it was not feasible to site the shipper, we provided detailed feedback to El Rayo, ensuring clear communication on the reasons why. Additionally, we monitored stock levels closely, reporting back on whether there was sufficient stock available to replenish the shipper and maintain strong product availability in-store.
  • This comprehensive approach ensured that El Rayo had the visibility needed to drive sales, while also delivering valuable insights into stock levels and in-store execution.
