eXPD8 Joins the Homelessness Covenant: A Commitment to Inclusive Employment Practices

We believe in the power of collective action to make a real difference in people’s lives. That’s why we’re proud to announce that we’ve joined the Homelessness Covenant, a pledge developed by Crisis, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC). This initiative is dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness through inclusive and supportive employment practices.

What is the Homelessness Covenant?

The Homelessness Covenant is more than just a pledge—it’s a movement. It recognises that homelessness isn’t just about not having a roof over one’s head. It’s about the lack of a safe, secure, and decent place to call home. This issue can affect anyone, including those in full or part-time employment, and is often exacerbated by marginalisation, discrimination, or exclusion.

By signing up for this Covenant, we are committing to better understanding homelessness and its many forms. We’re dedicated to working closely with Crisis and the DWP to spot signs of and prevent homelessness among our employees. But more than that, we see this as an opportunity to lead by example, using our position as a responsible employer to make a tangible impact in our community.

Our Commitment to the Homelessness Covenant

As part of our commitment to the Homelessness Covenant, eXPD8 pledges to:

  • Provide Employment and Training Opportunities: We will actively seek to create job and training opportunities for individuals who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.
  • Adopt Fairer Employment Practices: We will review and enhance our employment and recruitment policies to ensure they are supportive of those affected by homelessness.
  • Support Local Communities: We will engage in fundraising, awareness-raising, partnerships, and volunteer efforts to help end homelessness in the communities where we operate.

Why This Matters to eXPD8

We understand that our society, our workplaces, and our people are stronger when everyone is supported to lead healthy and fulfilled lives. A stable home is essential for people to reach their full potential, both personally and professionally. In today’s interconnected world, where many of us work remotely, the need for a settled home is more crucial than ever.

By signing the Homelessness Covenant, we are reinforcing our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. We recognise that protecting the health and wellbeing of our employees is not just good business practice—it’s the right thing to do. When our team members feel valued and supported, we all benefit. Our workplaces thrive, and we contribute to a better society for everyone.

Looking Ahead

Joining the Homelessness Covenant is just the beginning. We’re excited to embark on this journey and to see the positive changes it will bring, both within our company and in the wider community. We’re committed to upholding the values of the Covenant and will work tirelessly to ensure that our actions reflect our words.

At eXPD8, we believe that by working together, we can create a world where everyone has the opportunity to live in a safe, secure, and decent home. We encourage other businesses to join us in this important initiative and to take a stand against homelessness.
